Story Explained

The film begins with a woman named Dana, whose life was extremely active and happy. She used to exercise and go for a morning walk every day. However, one day her life changes completely when she is struck by a speeding car.

When Dana regains consciousness after remaining in a coma for two weeks, her condition is extremely critical. She cannot speak properly, is on a ventilator to breathe, and both her legs are completely paralyzed.

Dana's husband, Steve, and her daughter, Gemma, visit her regularly. Initially, everything seems normal, but as night falls, the atmosphere of the hospital begins to change.

Dana starts to sense that someone else is present in her room. She feels as though someone is constantly watching her from the shadows. One night, the wardrobe in her room opens on its own, and a terrifying figure appears to emerge from within.

But the problem was that Dana couldn't even turn her neck properly, so she couldn't clearly see that thing.

The Malevolent Ghost

Gradually, Dana realizes that she is not dealing with a human being, but rather a dangerous spirit. This spirit would appear only at night, and the most terrifying aspect was that it would switch off Dana's ventilator.

Since Dana was unable to move, she would be left completely helpless. This sequence becomes one of the most terrifying scenes in the film.

In the film's climax, the entire hospital transforms into a killing ground. One by one, numerous people are killed.

Dana attempts to save her daughter, Gemma, but she soon realizes that escaping Nils is nearly impossible.

Ultimately, she sacrifices herself so that her daughter may survive.

In the film's final scene, a photograph of Dana is shown, in which Nils also appears alongside her. It is at this moment that the film suggests Nils did not view himself as a monster; in his own mind, he was liberating people from their pain.
