On 14 February 2019, there was a suicide attack on a convoy of CRPF vehicles carrying Indian security personnel on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway, in which 45 Indian security personnel were killed. The attack took place in Lethpora area near Awantipora in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.
 The responsibility of the attack was claimed by Pakistan-based Islamic terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed. However, Pakistan condemned the attack and denied responsibility.


This incident led to an India-Pakistan standoff in 2019.A convoy of Indian security personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was attacked by terrorists on Thursday in Awantipora area of ​​Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, in which around 45 jawans were martyred and several others were also injured.
Reports state that the vehicle used by the terrorists was a Mahindra Scorpio which had more than 300 kg of explosives. The injured were taken to the Army Base Hospital in Srinagar, 20 km from the site of the attack. Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for this attack. He then also released a video of the attacker Adil Ahmed Dar alias Adil Ahmed Gadi Tekranwala alias Waqas Commando, a resident of Kakapora, who had joined the group a year ago.

The Pakistan Spokesperson's Office issued a press release saying, "We reject any objection by the Indian media and the government to link the attack with Pakistan without any investigation." Apart from this, he has said, it is a matter of serious concern.

The United States Ambassador to India, Kenneth Juster, said that the "US Embassy in India strongly condemns today's attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and extends its deepest condolences to the families of the casualties." At the same time, he said that America is always with India in the fight against terrorism and will also defeat it.

Condemning the attack, Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena said, "I am deeply saddened by the cowardly attack in South Kashmir and the loss of 45 CRPF jawans. The global community should condemn such brutal attacks and take effective steps to prevent such attacks in future. Prime Minister Ranil Vikram Singhe called it the worst attack since 1980.

Russia The Russian Embassy in India said that "We condemn all forms of terrorism and reiterate that we must fight this inhuman act with a collective responsibility without any dual attitude. We express our sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

Nepal's Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this tragic incident in a telephone conversation and condoled it, saying, "We condemn this incident and are with India in this hour of grief."

It was decided that on February 14, he would celebrate Valentine's Day as Black Day.

He said that we will celebrate this day as Black Day to honor our immortal martyrs.
